What exactly 'is' Operation Valkyrie?  This is a 'super gamepack' that comes with a high
amount of scenery, AI traffic, various aircraft, cars, and a Mission pack.  It features a
fictional storyline based on the real world actual plot, 'Operation Valkyrie', to over throw
the nazi party and assassinate adolf hitler.

How big is the file to download?   Approximately 250 megs with an auto-installer.

What is involved in installation?  All is auto-installed except the Flight Plans which you must
drop into your 'My Documents/Flight Simulator Files' folder.

What is a Mission pack?   This package features 65 presaved missions, all in order, that
follow a fictional pilot that is recruited into the Luftwaffe and helps in the assasination plot
against adolf hitler.  Each Mission is on its own HTML page and features tons of
screenshots, mission info, and a 'Fly Now' switch.

Is there a ReadMe?  Yes and no.  There is a huge 'Information Center' built into the
Missions pack.  This has a Vehicles Manuals center, Airfields info center, and Missions
center.  The missions feature vintage composite radio music from Germany in WWII.  The
Manuals and Airfields pages are filled with screenshots, diagrams, and detail on each
vehicle and airfield.

What is a 'Fly Now' switch?  Its a clickable icon (a German Magneto switch in this case)
that you click to go directly into the flight so that you do not have to boot up Flight
Simulator.  This takes you into the flight directly.

Will it run on slower computers?  Yes.  All aircraft utilize DXT3 format texture mapping to
enable higher computer performance.  No 32bit Textures are used in this gamepack.  It is
recommended to have at least 1 gig of Ram however, due to the high assortment of
textures.

Do the Missions work in FS2004?  Yes, they are designed in FS2004 and are seperate
from the installation, located 'in' FS2004 but accessed through a desktop shortcut.  You
must drag the shortcut to your desktop and the Missions center is thus easily accessed.
They are in HTML format and filled with information, maps, manuals, screenshots, and a
'Fly Now' switch.

Can I fly the package 'without' a Mission?  Absolutely, yes!  The Missions are designed to
be a 'game' like interface with all the scenery and aircraft, giving the player a multitude of
adventures in a story plot that gives the whole 'package' a journey through it, enabling all
the elements of the O. V. world to be seen and absorbed.

How many airports are there that are custom?    There are 11 various custom airfields,
and a U-Boot base, a lone Panzer unit, and a downed Bf-109.  1 of the 11 airfields is not
accessable through the FS airport selection center; the mountain top 'Freiburg' gliderport,
which is almost visible from Freiburg EDTF, is straight down the runway, atop the main
mountain on the horizon.

Does the Gigant have a full VC interior?  Yes, including 4 model variants and 4 texture sets
as well as a low poly AI variant for air traffic.  The forward clamshell cargo nose doors open
and the Panzer and Kubelwagen variants feature their vehicles that drive out of the Gigant.
One variant is featured 'empty' and has its own air file that sports the liter version of
flying characteristics.

Is the Kubelwagen a detailed vehicle?  Yes.  The Kubelwagen features a working
speedometer, windshieldwipers, a pop-up top via Spoiler command, and drives about quite
well in the virtual world of FS.  It comes in Tan, Green, and Gray.

What does the U-Boot come with?  The U-Boot does not feature an interior.  The VC is
located atop the Conning Tower for 'surfaced' mode.  The Ship features dive capabilities to
18 meters (Periscope depth), features also a raisable attack periscope, opening hatch at
the conning tower and the forward deck hatch also.  Diesel fumes appear when the
engines are running and 'I' (eye) button is selected.  There is a custom soundpack and
custom U-Boot 'photo views' in 2D panel mode.  Only one color selection is offered for it and
it can be birthed in its own U-Boot pens at LIUB, Porto Salvo U-Boot base.

What does the glider do?   The Grunau Baby BII glider features a detailed cockpit in VC
mode, high graphics panel and 3D encased gauges.  The glider comes in a German
Luftwaffe trainer texture, Swiss civilian texture, and a 'Special Ops' winter assault cammo
texture.  The Glider is featured in 2 models, one that has Spoilers, and one that has a Tow
Plane that appears with Spoiler command.  You simply turn off the Tow Plane to begin
soaring.  The alternate is 'slewed' to altitude and then released.  The tow planes sport
parallel paint schemes, Swiss airforce with Swiss glider, German with German, and Winter
cammo with assault glider.

What all does the Bucker Bestmann include?   The Bestmann is a high detail model
featuring 10 (ten) model variants, 14 (fourteen) different texture packs, 9 seperate and
additional preset AI low memory texture packs, a high detail interior, 2 versions of panels;
(Standard 'mission' use aircraft and basic trainer variant panel, featuring 3D encased
gauge assemblies with back lighting for night flying with dome light off).  Various
components and vent windows, knobs and levers, and switch bank are animated in the VC.
The Cowling and fuel door animate with Wingfold command, and a cargo net appears
behind the pilot above the cargo shelf with Tailhook command.  The Bucker Bu-181 also
features civilian paint schemes with 2 civilian 'customised' interiors in Green and in Red
leather trim with stained wood surfaces.  Lionheart Creations worked with 2 actual owners
and pilots of the Bucker Bu-181 for the precious information on these rare aircraft.

Are the gauges in Metric or Standard Nautical?  The gauges in these aircraft are Metric
for full immersion into the Luftwaffe pilot environment.  A pop-up 'conversion' placcard is
featured in each vehicle for translation of airspeed, altitude, and fuel quantity, and you can
still go to 'Nautical' standard gauges in 2D panel mode by selecting W key (Hide panel,
base gauges showing).  We highly recommend trying to learn airspeeds and altitude in
Metric measures as like the Luftwaffe pilots did to really get a 'feel' for the authenticity of
the era.

Do these aircraft feature 2D panels?  Yes, high graphics 2D panels.  The Bucker is slightly
difficult to tell if its a 2D panel or VC, as the perspective is retained in the view along with
switch gauge angles of view.  The Kubelwagens also come with color matched 2D panels.
And yes, the Glider sports a nice high graphics 2D panel as well.

Will these aircraft work in FSX now?  Yes.  They perform quite well in FSX and all textures
and switches function properly.

Do the scenery packs work currently with FSX?  Yes they do.

How soon will the FSX version be ready?   We are looking at 2 weeks maximum from
release of the FS2004 version, however, things can change in a day.

Is the scenery hard on frame rates performance?  No, the scenery itself is very frame
rates friendly, including the colossal Tempelhof terminal in Berlin and the '15th Panzer
division' in North Africa with all 100 Panzer tanks in the desert.  The scenery is done in low
poly/ultra high graphics for extreme realism and high performance.  However, AI traffic
that comes with this gamepack 'can' slow frame rates.  Please read the next FAQ.

Will the scenery work with other aircraft that I already have?  Yes, very much so.  This is
designed to bring a person back to Germany in the early 1940's.  Flying your own
Messerschmitts, Heinkels, and even Allied and Italian aircraft is perfectly fine.  With online
playing, each player owning a copy of O.V., one can stage WWII attacks and Sortie's
against each other.

I see that this comes with other planes, like a Junkers Ju-52, Me-163 Komet, and several
others.  Can these be flown also?
Yes, however, they are only for AI scenery aircraft.  They
are not equipped with panels nor VC interiors.  However, fitting them with panels would
make them quite entertaining planes.  The Junkers Ju-52 is a very fun plane to fly.

Does this package feature AI scenery?  Yes.  (Big yes).  This package contains trucks, cars,
bombers, fighters, and various other AI scenery traffic.  However, with full 'immersion' it
can slow some older computers down immensely, so Lionheart Creations have created
'layered' traffic that is set to 2%, 6%, 12%, and 24%.  This keeps the Cessna's and Boeings
out of the traffic 'era' and with 2% traffic setting, you can see planes on the airbases and
have great frame rates.  With extreme setting of 24%, you will have 'tons' (tons) of AI
traffic at all airfields and in the skies.  (The AI traffic including Buckers and Gigants,
feature special high performance models and low memory textures).

Is this package available for CFS3?  Presently no.  We have no plans to do this package for
Combat Flight Simulator.  It 'could' be possible in the future, but for now it is not.

If I only want the Bucker Bestmann, can I get that as a stand alone model without all the
rest?
Yes, the Bucker is available as a dual mini-pack with the Grunau Gliders and also
comes with the gliderport in Freiburg Germany.

Where is it be available?  It will be available here and at SimFlight.com on the first release.

What sales systems do you sell through?  We currently sell through SimFlights sales
system which can take the various Euro currencies, Flight1's award winning sales
wrapper, and PayPal's new PayLoadz software sales system, which can accept E-Check
payments.

Will the package be available as CD?  Yes.  The CD is $9.99 USD more ($42.94 USD) and
is shipped in its retail package.

Can I purchase this for a friend?  Yes.  Contact Flight1.com and they can take your card
number over the phone and email out a Gift Key.  If you wish to purchase a CD as a gift,
simply  just direct the shipping to the person you are purchasing this for so the CD is
shipped to the correct address.

Can I create my own missions?  Yes, absolutely!  The Missions are created in HTML using a
basic HTML editor.  Save your photos and flights files similarly as to how they are done in
the Operation Valkyrie Missions folder layout and use the 'Fly Now' link to go directly to the
FLT file.  You 'should' number them in a way that is in order if you do 'several' missions in a
row so that people can access them in chronological order.  You can also add your own
music or sound effects to your background sound of your mission pages, if you wanted.
Good scenarios could include being a Komet pilot at K001, Alps recon at Freiburg, Me109
fighter pilot at Eggersdorf Airbase, Heinkel bomber pilot stationed at Nanur supply base or
at Porto Salvo, Italy.  The possibilities are endless.

Will the Missions center and flights work with Bill Lyons' 'Golden Wings'?  Yes.  Instead of
setting up your FLT files to open up with FS9.exe, instead, direct the FLT files to always be
opened up with 'FSGW.exe'.  Your missions will then work properly for starting up in
Golden Wings.  This applies also to Silver Wings and other versions and variants of
FS2004.

Bill and Lynn Lions' Golden Wings based on Flight Simulator FS2004 is a superb recreation of the 1920's and
1930's 'Golden Years' of avitaion.  For those wishing to recreate that era in a 'version' of Flight Simulator, go
to the
'Ye Old Hanger' and navigate to Bill Lyons 'Golden Wings' site.  This is a huge download and is freeware.
GAME INTERFACE SET-UP FACTORS
This is a list of factors that need to be carried out before the game interface (Missions)
function properly.  This 'must' be done 'before' going into a flight with Operation Valkyrie.

*  Go to the FS/Lionheart Creations Documentation/Operation Valkyrie Missions/Flights
folder, right click on one FLT file, tick 'Always Open With' and then use Browse to find
FS9.exe in the FS9 main folder, (fsx.exe for FSX users).  Note; If you have Golden Wings or
Silver Wings in which you wish to fly 'Operation Valkyrie' with, then you would direct the files
to 'that'  EXE file of simulator.  For instance, with Golden Wings, select 'Always Open With....
' and browse to 'fsgw.exe' in the Golden Wings sim folder.

*  Locate the Shortcut 'Journal' Icon (small brown book) in the Operation Valkyrie Missions
folder and drag it to your Desktop.  This will make a quick link to the Operation Valkyrie
Missions Center.  (For Vista, you'll need to create a Shortcut to 'Introduction.HTML' in the
Missions folder).

*  In Flight Simulator, turn off 'Detect all crashes' under Aircraft/Realism center.

*  In Flight Simulator, go to Settings/Scenery/Add Area and locate Addon Scenery/Bucker
Adventures folder and 'add' that folder.  Now re-boot Flight Simulator.  The scenery will now
be active.

*  Go to the Missions Center folder in FS in Lionheart Creations Documentation, locate the
Valkyrie Flightplans folder, open it and select all files 'in' that folder, copy them to 'My
Documents/Flight Simulator Files, (In FSX, drop these files in 'My Documents/Flight
Simulator X Files).

*  When selecting 'Fly Now' icon switch in a Mission page, Windows displays a small window;
'Save or Open?'  Select 'Open' and at that moment, Flight Simulator will begin to open and
you will then go directly into the presaved flight.

*  Mission Pages need to be viewed in actual size.  Wide screens will cause the pages to lose
alignment of the buttons.  Just make your browser narrower until the actual size of the
missions pages are centered properly.

You are now ready to start the odysee!  Enjoy Germany, Italy, and North Africa!
