Bugatti P100
Air Racer
This is the Type 100 Bugatti Air Racer that was to brake the world air speed records and out fly
the Germans in the international air race competitions. Powered by two straight eight,
supercharged, Grand Prix Type 51 racing engines that were specially casted in Magnesium, this
was one incredible bird. Her speed was said to be capable of 500+ MPH!

Note the clamshell opened flap
section. The Bugatti is in 'Spoiler'
mode which also uses the flaps.
Normal flap setting would have
only the lower section operating,
which also functions in this
gamepack in that fashion.
Ettore had invisioned and patented
this feature of dual surfaces that
interacted to produce several
control surfaces with only 2
structures, the upper spoiler and
lower flap. They acted in harmony.
The Spoiler brakers are much
needed when coming into a turn
around a Pylon as you need to
slow for a good tight turn.
The Bugatti is animated so that you can watch the cowling lift off the fuselage and gently lite upon
two saw horses that 'appear'. A vintage Castrol fuel can also appears. With that, the racing
engines are revealed and one can see how they were tightly mounted within the hull of the sleek
dart-like craft. Note that the engines were at angles in which to better place the drive shafts to the
sides of the cockpit under the arms of the pilot and to the nose where the planetary gearbox was
that powered the dual contrarotating propellors.

Gamepack is complete with
a fully animated pilot
The P100 was an incredibly sleek and modern design for her days. She would have impressed
Howard Hughes who was also trying to brake the world speed records, of which he did.
Making a pass at the Pylon. Note the vortice streams at the wingtips and the engines smoke trails.
This effect is turned on via 'Smoke' command with the 'I' key.
