Out doing a bit of whale spotting along the coast line of New Zealand by Kaikoura, the
Cruisemaster 260 is clipping along quite well.
Note the fabric covered control surfaces against the all wood construction wings. They were
not only fitted with wood ribs and a moderately strong wooden wing spar, but skinned in strong
veneered layers of thin wood skins as well, making for super slick surfaces and incredibly strong
structures.
This paint scheme really intriqued me. When I saw it, I had to try to make it. The copper/bronze
stripes are well layed out in Bellanca fashion. For some reason, they seemed to do a 'similar'
treatment of stripes behind the rear windows that seemed to 'lead' to the Viking's style of
windows.
Here is Chris next to Tim's Bellanca back at Montgomery Field, in San Diego.
This is the paint scheme from which I created the one above for a 'version' of
the Bellanca 260. (I added the famous Bellanca 'Wings' logo to the rudder as
well).
